Citrus County is the gem of the nature coast with breathtaking scenery, waterfront housing, amazing wildlife, and plenty to do throughout the year. It is close to major cities such as Ocala, Orlando, Gainesville, Tampa, and St. Petersburg, but we also have a great selection of our own local businesses to choose from including farmer's markets and farm stands, indoor and outdoor shopping centers, and a host of local gems.

Things To Do

There are countless outdoor activities including fishing and boating on the chain of lakes or in the Gulf and several private and public golf courses, including the world famous course at Black Diamond. Whispering Pines Park, located a short distance from downtown Inverness, is a 290-acre park complex featuring numerous sports facilities, a public pool, picnic and playground areas, water playground, and several nature trails great for walking, running, or bike riding. The Withlacoochee State Forest in Citrus County was named one of the "10 Coolest Places You've Never Been in North America" by the World Wildlife Fund. The county also has a 46-mile stretch of former railway that has been paved for a multi-purpose recreational trail great for hiking, walking/running, biking, and horseback riding. There are many outdoor events throughout the year, including live concerts, festivals, fairs, and parades so you can really enjoy the great weather all year long.
